STARVY SUPPORT

Help with the app, your account, and your data

Need a hand with Starvy? Most answers are below. If you don't find what you're looking for, email us at hello@starvy.com and a human will get back to you.

1.

Getting Started

Starvy is an iPhone app. It requires iOS 18 or later and is available on the App Store.

Starvy is currently invite-only. If you don't have an invite, you can join the waitlist at starvy.com and we'll reach out when a place opens up.

You sign in with your phone number or your email address — whichever you prefer. There is no password to remember: we send you a one-time code, you enter it, and you're in.

2.

Signing In

I didn't get my code. Codes usually arrive within a few seconds. If yours hasn't:

  • Check that the phone number or email address is typed correctly, including the country code for phone numbers.
  • For email, check your spam or junk folder.
  • Wait for the resend timer on the code screen, then request a new code.
  • If your carrier is blocking SMS, try signing in with your email address instead.

My code isn't accepted. Codes expire after a short period. Request a fresh one and enter the most recent code you received — older codes stop working once a new one is sent.

I changed my phone number or email. You can update either one from your profile under Edit Profile. We'll send a verification code to the new number or address to confirm it's yours before the change takes effect.

If you still can't get in, email us at hello@starvy.com from the address on your account, or tell us the phone number you're using, and we'll sort it out.

Saving Spots and Building Guides

Saving a spot. Tap the bookmark on any place to save it for later. Saved spots collect on your profile under Saved — it's your want-to-try list, and nothing is posted about it.

Adding a spot to a guide. Tap the Starvy star — the brand mark beside the bookmark — to put a place in one of your guides. Starvy asks which guide it belongs in, and you can attach photos and a note about your visit at the same time. That's what your friends see in their feed.

Guides are your collections, organized by city — for example your own Berlin guide. Starvy also publishes curated guides, which are editorial collections put together by our team.

Editing what you posted. Open the spot from your profile or your guide and tap the Starvy star again to edit your note, add or remove photos, or choose which photo leads. Removing a place from a guide removes your post for it; removing the last place in a guide deletes that guide.

Photos. You can add up to 10 photos at a time from your library, or take one with the camera. Photos are checked automatically before they're uploaded, and anything that doesn't meet our community guidelines is not posted.

4.

Privacy and Who Sees Your Content

Who can see what you post. Notes you write on a spot are public unless your account is private — the app reminds you of this next to the note field as you type. If you'd like your account set to private, email us at hello@starvy.com and we'll arrange it for you.

Blocking someone. You can block any account from their profile. Blocking hides your content from them and theirs from you. You can review and undo blocks at any time under Settings → Blocked Users.

Location. Starvy asks for your location to show places near you and to center the map where you are. You can grant or withdraw this permission in your iPhone's Settings at any time, and the app remains usable without it.

For the full picture of what we collect and why, see our Privacy Policy.

5.

Reporting Content or an Account

If you see something that doesn't belong on Starvy, report it in the app. Tap the more button (•••) on a post, a guide, or a profile and choose Report. You can report a post, a note, an individual photo, a guide, or an account.

Reports go to our moderation queue and are reviewed by a person, not an algorithm. We remove content that breaks our Terms of Service and may suspend accounts that do so repeatedly.

Copyright. If you believe content on Starvy infringes your copyright, follow the notice procedure on our DMCA page.

Security. If you've found a vulnerability, please report it responsibly — see our Security page.

Something urgent or serious can always go straight to hello@starvy.com.

6.

Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account yourself, at any time, from inside the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. You'll be asked to confirm, because this cannot be undone.

Deleting your account removes your profile, your guides, your saved spots, your notes, and your photos. We delete or irreversibly anonymize your personal data within 30 days, apart from residual copies in encrypted backups, which are purged on a rolling basis within 90 days, and anything we're legally required to keep.

If you can't sign in to delete your account, email hello@starvy.com and we'll verify your identity and do it for you.

7.

Contact Us

For anything at all — bugs, feedback, account trouble, or partnership questions — email us at hello@starvy.com. We read every message and aim to reply within two business days.

It helps us if you include your username, your iPhone model, and your iOS version. A screenshot is worth a lot when something looks wrong.
